Minor Arcana
The minor arcana has 56 cards composed of four suits namely pentacles, cups, wands, and swords, each suit having cards 1 to 10 plus a page, knight, queen and king. Various authors have associated the tarot cards with the four ancient elements making up the world namely earth, water, fire and air. Pentacles represent money, cups suggest love, wands relate to work, and swords indicate strife.​
The cards of the minor arcana are more to do with external factors and influences. I am less excited when I get these cards as they are less about my internal persona and more about daily activities, everyday events and people around me.​

The minor arcana and a deck of playing cards seem to have a relationship but there appears to be no agreement on which came first or how the other was derived from it. There seems to be agreement that the corresponding suits are pentacles / diamonds, cups / hearts, wands / clubs and swords / spades, with card one being the ace but with only 52 cards so minus the knight in each suit.
